Free chatting works out of the box, and power users can plug in their own API keys for stronger models without paying Janitor directly – a flexibility Character.AI deliberately does not offer.
In June 2026 the platform launched Janitor+ at $12.99 per month, its first subscription: five times more context for chat memory, unlimited priority messages and queue priority. Against Character.AI’s c.ai+ at $9.99, Janitor+ costs more but addresses the two complaints power users raise most – memory depth and waiting – so heavy roleplayers get clear value for the difference.
