Claude Code brings agentic coding to the terminal: it reads your repo, plans changes, edits across files, runs tests and commits – with checkpoints and permissions keeping you in control. It is the tool behind a lot of 2026’s ‘AI engineer’ workflows and pairs with the Claude Agent SDK, MCP servers and GitHub Actions.

It is included with every paid Claude plan rather than sold separately: Pro at $20 per month covers everyday use, Max 5x ($100) and Max 20x ($200) raise the usage ceiling substantially, and enterprise teams can also bill an Anthropic API key per token.
